Wood County Cemeteries 

  1. ATTAWAY GRAVE – Intersection of FM 852 and Texas 11 northwest of Winnsboro, go west approximately .8 mile.
  2. BALDWIN FAMILY CEMETERY – On FM 49 from Mineola to Hainesville; turn north on oiled road 1.6 miles east of Lake Fork Bridge.  Enter gate 1.1 miles from 49; gate is 1/2 mile from intersection.  Cemetery about 1 1/2 miles from oiled road.
  3. BENTON (SAM) PLACE CEMETERY – 1 1/2 miles north of Clover Hill.  Markers have been removed and area now in disrepair.
  4. BIG SPRING – Same as Sand Springs – referred in very early newspaper clippings as Big Springs because of large mineral springs nearby.
  5. BEAVERS CEMETERY – Non-white cemetery in Hawkins.  At intersection of Hwy. 80 and FM 14 go 1 block north on 14, turn west on Blackbourn; cemetery is .9 mile on south side of road.
  6. BIGHAM FAMILY CEMETERY – West side of Hwy. 37 2 miles north of the Mineola City Limits sign.  Four graves and area well kept.
  7. BELL FAMILY CEMETERY – East from Mineola on FM 49 1/4 mile from city limits, turn south on road to Pine Springs Baptist Church, immediately south is cemetery.
  8. L.A. BRYAN – From downtown Hawkins at intersection of FM 14 and Hwy. 80, go west on 80 1.4 miles, turn north on road for 1.6 miles, follow road as its winds; grave is on the north.
  9. BENTON HUGHES CEMETERY – 500 yards from Rock Hill Baptist Church.  No markers remain.
  10. CARVER MARKER – In northeast area of County where FM 1647 intersects Hwy. 11 (Winnsboro-Pittsburg Hwy.); farm immediately north of intersection.
  11. COOPER GRAVES – North of D. Rainwater grave on Hwy. 37 south of Winnsboro, can be located by sign for Sharon Com. Water System Well.
  12. CONCORD CEMETERY – North of Hainesville at intersection of FM 49 and FM 778 1.8 miles on FM 778 across road from Hubbard Chapel Baptist Church.
  13. COTTONWOOD CEMETERY – At intersection of FM 17 and 779 near Rains County line, go .8 mile west on 779, turn south on oiled road and name of cemetery is over gate.
  14. CLOVER HILL CEMETERY – Behind Clover Hill Baptist Church north of Quitman, 2.9 miles on Hwy. 37 turn west on FM 69 for 2.1 miles.
  15. DOLLAR FAMILY CEMETERY – On FM 2225 just north of FM 515 between Coke and Yantis.
  16. DUMAS CEMETERY – Go east from Mineola on Hwy. 80, turn left on FM 1801, go 5 miles, turn right on oiled road, go .2 miles north, turn east and go .9 mile.  Cemetery is in field on north side of road.
  17. DUNAHOE FAMILY CEMETERY – At Crow Community at intersection of FM 778 and Hwy. 80 turn north on 778, turn west at first small road and cemetery is located on C. E. Dunahoe farm.
  18. ENON CEMETERY – 1.9 miles from intersection of FM 17 and 182 in Alba on south side beside the Enon Baptist Church.
  19. EBENEZER CEMETERY – 6 miles east of Quitman in Oak Grove Community.  The cemetery is 3/4 mile south of intersection of FM 2088 and FM 14.
  20. FARR FARM CEMETERY – From intersection of State Hwy. 154 and FM 515, go 2.8 miles east and farm on south side.  The cemetery is 200 yds. from house.
  21. FREEMAN’S CHAPEL CEMETERY – 7 1/2 miles northeast of Mineola on FM 1254 and is in a non-white community next to Freeman’s Chapel Church.
  22. FORD AND GREEN CEMETERY – Intersection of Green and Country Club Drive in Mineola, 1 block north of Hwy. 80 and app. 1 mile west of downtown.
  23. FOUSE CEMETERY – At Rock Falls Lake east of Mineola, go out FN 1801 app. 6 miles, turn on oiled road and cross Dam at Lake, cemetery is .4 miles from dam.
  24. GENTRY CEMETERY – South of Macedonia Baptist Church, north of Hwy. 80, west of FM 778.
  25. GREER CEMETERY – From Mineola go south on 69, turn east on first oiled road south of city limits, continue east about 3 miles.  The graves are on a knoll between two creeks.
  26. GOOD FAMILY CEMETERY – At Hainesville Store on FM 49, take first road east, graves are approximately 1.3 miles up road.
  27. GOLDEN CEMETERY – With city limits of Golden, from downtown intersection it is 1/5 mile on FM 779.
  28. GOLDEN NEGRO CEMETERY – At intersection of Hwy. 80 and FM 1799 west of Mineola go north on FM 1799 for 1.9 miles, turn east on oiled road and cemetery is 1/2 from turn-off.
  29. HAYS CEMETERY – In Winnsboro at intersection of Texas 37 and 11, go west on 11 for 1.5 miles and FM 852 intersects, continue on 11 for 1 1/2 mile.  The cemetery is on the south side of road.
  30. HANEY CEMETERY – In Hawkins from Hwy. 80 turn north on FM 14 for 1 1/2 miles, west on FM 1795 .3 miles, turn right on graveled road and cemetery on left.
  31. HAWKINS CITY CEMETERY – At intersection of US 80 and FM 14 go 1 block north, turn east on Blackbourn and cemetery is about 3 blocks east of FM 14.
  32. HENDRIX FAMILY CEMETERY – From Quitman go north on FM 2966 1 .2 miles, entrance gate to ranch east side of road.  Cemetery is .2 miles from entrance.
  33. HOLLAND CEMETERY – From intersection of Texas 154 and FM 515 go west on 515 1.4 miles.  Nor easily found, cannot be seen from road.
  34. HOPEWELL CEMETERY – At intersection of FM 515 and FM 1643 between Winnsboro and Coke, go south on FM 1643 .1 mile, turn east 1 mile.  Cemetery is on south side of road.
  35. HOPE CEMETERY – Just off FM 1254 out of Mineola.  A small road on south side 3.9 miles from intersection of Newsom St. and 1254.  Church was here many years ago.  Cemetery cannot be seen from road.
  36. HENSON FAMILY CEMETERY – South of Winnsboro near Coldwater Church on FM 2910, turn east off 2910 for 3.3 miles and cemetery on west side of road.
  37. HESTER FARM CEMETERY – At intersection of FM 2088 and FM 852, go across Caney Creek and just over mile south of the intersection barn on west side.  The cemetery is across from the barn.
  38. INGRAM FAMILY CEMETERY – Ingram Farm northwest of Quitman at intersection of FM 154 and 37, go 2.3 miles north on 37 and turn west on private road; cemetery is on north side of road.
  39. INDIAN GRAVEYARD – Lake Quitman area.
  40. JARVIS CHRISTIAN COLLEGE CEMETERY – On US 80 east of Hawkins.  The cemetery is on college site a short distance from the college and next to US 80.
  41. JORDAN FAMILY CEMETERY – In Pine Mille going north on FM 14 from intersection with FM 49 turn west on first oiled road to Ironstone Ranch.  The cemetery is approximately 800 feet from ranch house.
  42. KAY FAMILY CEMETERY – North of Hawkins, south of intersection of FM 1795 and FM 2659 about halfway between Liberty Church and FM 2659; cemetery on sandy lane.
  43. LEE CEMETERY – Few miles south of Winnsboro on Hwy. 37.  This cemetery is the largest in the County.
  44. LIBERTY CEMETERY – In Hawkins at US 80 turn north on FM 14 go 1 1/2 miles, turn west on FM 1795 go 3/4 miles, cemetery to right.
  45. LITTLE HOPE CEMETERY – Intersection of FM 154 and FM 312; go north on 312 for 1.1 miles, turn east 1/2 mile to Little Hope Baptist Church and Cemetery.
  46. LIVELY FAMILY CEMETERY – In Quitman go 3.3 miles east on FM 2088 from intersection of FM 37 and FM 2088.  The cemetery is on private property.
  47. McGEE CEMETERY – Small Negro cemetery near Winnsboro.  At intersection of FM 852 and 515, go east on 515 for .5 miles.  Cemetery on east side of lane.
  48. MATTHEW McCREIGHT GRAVE – In area between Alba and Yantis close of “Pleasant Divide” Community.
  49. MT. PISGAH CEMETERY – Between Hainesville and Pine Mills on FM 49 at the Mt. Pisgah Church.
  50.  MANSELL FAMILY CEMETERY #1 – At Hainesville go east on FM 49 1.6 miles to oiled road, turn north and go 1.2 miles, east .3 miles; back north for .6 miles and cemetery in pasture east of road.
  51. MANSELL FAMILY CEMETERY #2 – Near Pine Mills community.  At intersection of FM 49 and 14 go .6 miles north and cemetery in wooded area on east side of road.
  52. MOSELEY FAMILY CEMETERY – On farm at intersection of FM 1254 and 778 (Quitman –Hainesville road).
  53. McMILLAN FAMILY CEMETERY – About 1/2 mile south of Concord Cemetery off of FM 778.  See 12 above.
  54. MOODY FAMILY CEMETERY – In Hainesville at intersection of FM 49 and FM 778 go south on 778 for /6 mile, turn east on oiled road.  The Moody place is 1 mile from 778 and 200 yds. south of the old house.
  55. MINEOLA CITY CEMETERY - .6 miles south of intersection of US 80 and 69 (Mineola).  The cemetery is on west side of Hwy. 69.
  56. MINEOLA NEGRO CEMETERY – Adjoins Mineola City Cemetery.  See 55 above.
  57. MT. SHILOAH CEMETERY – 1 1/2 miles east of city limits of Quitman on FM 154.
  58. MT. ZION CEMETERY – Near Perryville at intersection of FM 2088 and FM 852 go north on 852 for 2.6miles, turn west and go 1.1 miles and turn north on oiled road .2 miles.  Hard to find; only 3 family members found buried here.
  59. MONDAY FAMILY CEMETERY – From Winnsboro go southeast on FM 852, turn south on FM 2910 at intersection with FM 852.
  60. MUDDY CREEK CEMETERY – North of Muddy Creek Baptist Church.  Go north on Hwy. 37 to intersection with Hwy. 69, turn northwest on 69 for 1 mile and church and cemetery on the east side of road.
  61. MYRTLE SPRINGS CEMETERY – Go west from courthouse in Quitman on Hwy. 154 to intersection with FM 2225, go 2.4 miles.  The cemetery is on west side of road next to Myrtle Springs Baptist Church.
  62. NEW HOPE CEMETERY – 100 yards south of Hwy. 80 just to the east of FM 2422 and about 4 miles east of Mineola in the New Hope Community.
  63. NEGRO GRAVES AT LAKE QUITMAN – Exact location unknown and information indicates no headstones found.
  64. OLD COUNTY FARM CEMETERY – Quitman-Hainesville Road several miles south of Quitman on east side of road.
  65. OLD DICKEY PLACE - .2 miles south of entrance to Muddy Creek Cemetery (see 60 above).  Old cemetery is back of the horse lot.
  66. OLD FOUKE CEMETERY – Southwest of the Fouke Community.  At intersection of 80 and FM 778 go north for 1.6 miles, turn west and go 2 1/2 miles.
  67. OLD SALEM CEMETERY – Take hwy. 17 north out of Alba towards Lake Fork.  Turn right off of 17 on CR 1534, turn right off of 1534 onto CR 1540.  Old Salem is three-tenths of a mile on the right on 1540.
  68. OLIVE BRANCH – Close to Bigham Family Cemetery; 2 miles north on Hwy. 37 from Mineola City limits named for old church nearby.  Not known how many graves.  Area now used for pasture.
  69. PLEASANT GROVE CEMETERY – Northwestern portion of County; go 2.3 miles east of FM 515 and cemetery immediately south of FM 515.
  70. PLEASANT RIDGE CEMETERY - .9 miles east of Enon Cemetery.  From intersection of Hwys. 17 and 182 at Alba travel east on FM 182 for 2.7 miles and cemetery on north side of highway.
  71. PRICE CEMETERY – Intersection of FM 2966 and the Quitman Lake Road north of Quitman.
  72. PARON CEMETERY – East of FM 49 from Mineola to Pine Mills.  Continue east on 49 for 7 1/2 miles, turn right on FM 1002, go 3.4 miles, turn right on FM 795, go 1.2 miles.  Cemetery located on right.
  73. PILGRIM’S REST # 2 CEMETERY – North side of Hwy. 69 4 miles southeast of Alba and 7 3/4 miles northeast of Mineola near church.
  74. PERRYVILLE CEMETERY – At intersection of FM 852 and FM 2088.  The cemetery is on east side of 852 and short distance from intersection.
  75. PINEVIEW CEMETERY – Eastern part of Wood County.  At Perryville FM 1647 intersects with FM 852, go north on FM 1647 for 2.2 miles and FM 2455 will intersect on east.  Church is at intersection, cemetery immediately east.
  76. QUITMAN CITY CEMETERY – In Quitman at intersection of Horton and Goldsmith Streets.
  77. DELILAH RAINWATER – 3.2 miles from intersection of FM 515 and Hwy. 37.  Go south on 37 from Winnsboro and cemetery on east side of road and land now used as pasture.
  78. RAMBO FAMILY CEMETERY – Two graves well kept by family north of Quitman on FM 2966 and oil topped road.  Cemetery on east side in wooded area on hill.
  79. RENSHAW FAMILY CEMETERYT – Not found but believed to be in northeast part of County near the Shady Grove Community.
  80. ROBINSON GRAVE – On old T. A. Champion place near Mineola on Route 2.
  81. ROCK HILL CEMETERY – From intersection of FM 69 and FM 515 go west on 515 for 1.4 miles.  Road to Rock Hill is on north side of road.  Turn north and entrance to cemetery is .2 miles.
  82. ROCKFIELD CEMETERY- Negro Cemetery on FM 49 from Mineola.  Turn south about 4 miles from Mineola on oiled road, go 1/2 mile across branch and turn west at first lane, cemetery about .2 miles at end of lane.
  83. REED CEMETERY – Near Pine Mills, go east on FM 49, less than half mile, FM 312 ends at FM 49; at end of 312 is small lane and cemetery about 100 yards down on east side.
  84. RAY CEMETERY – Located in Fouke Community.  From Mineola go east on Hwy. 80 10.6 miles, turn west go .4 miles, turn north and go .1 mile to cemetery.
  85. RAY FAMILY CEMETERY – Same area as 84. above.  Just follows directions for 84. above.
  86. ROBERTS CEMETERY – Access by boat across Gunstream Lake or by going across private property.  Two markers found at location.
  87. ROSE LAWN CEMETERY – 1.7 miles north of Mineola city limts on west side of Hwy. 37.
  88. SALEM CEMETERY – From intersection of FM 17 and 182 in Alba.  Go north on 17 for 1.9 miles and cemetery is on east side of road.
  89. SETZLER CEMETERY – Also called Searcy Cemetery.  From Courthouse in Quitman on Hwy. 154 go west 2.4 miles, north on FM 2225 1.2 miles.  See easily from road and enclosed by fence.
  90. SHARP CEMETERY – South of Yantis go 1.6 miles on State 154, turn east on oiled road .8 miles.  Hard to find and is behind rise in land and cannot be seen.
  91. SMITH CEMETERY – Highway 80 east of Hawkins, turn north on FM 2659 for 1.4 miles, right on FM 2911 .1 mile, turn left .6 miles to Church and Cemetery.
  92. SAND SPRINGS CEMETERY – North of Hwy. 69 2 1/2 miles from intersection of Hwys. 69 and 37 in Mineola.
  93. STOUT FAMILY CEMETERY – South side of FM 2088, 1 miles east of FM 2088 and FM 312.  It is immediately south of Capt. Henry Stout Roadside Park.
  94. SHADY GROVE CEMETERY – East of Quitman across road from Shady Grove Church that is 1.5 miles east of FM 315.
  95. SMYRNA CEMETERY – From Winnsboro go east on State 11, at point where 515 intersects continued on 11 for 1.2 miles, turn south on oiled road, go 1.6 miles, turn east .2 miles, beside Church and across the road.
  96. SHARON CEMETERY – Between Quitman and Winnsboro.  From intersection of Hwy. 37 and FM 154 at Quitman go north 9.9 miles.  Cemetery immediately behind Church.
  97. SHAMBURGER CEMETERY – From Pine Mills at intersection of FM 49 and FM 14 go north on FM 24 2 miles, turn west on oiled road.  Cemetery is .5 miles from FM 14 south of the road.
  98. TAYLOR FAMILY CEMETERY – Located 1.8 miles north of Setzler Cemetery (see 89. above)  One marker found for T. McCreight.
  99. TURNER CEMETERY – Redlands Community less than mile from Varner Cemetery.  Turn off Hwy. 8o on road to Salesmanship Club and cemetery is 3.6 miles north of Hwy.
  100. VARNER FAMILY CEMETERY – Go east from Mineola on US 80, turn left at Salesmanship Club road, grave site 2.7 miles north of Hwy. 80 on east side of road.
  101.   WILLARD CEMETERY - .2 miles south of intersection of Texas 11 and 512, east of Winnsboro.

  102. WEBSTER CEMETERY – Old community south of Winnsboro on west side of highway at intersection of two oiled roads.  No markers found, being used for pasture.

  103. WINNSBORO CITY CEMETERY – Located at Pine and Mulberry Sts. Several blocks north and west of downtown area.

  104. WRIGHT FAMILY CEMETERY – Northeast part of County near Winnsboro, isolated area (open pasture) on privately owned property.

  105. YANTIS CEMETERY – From intersection of Texas 154 and FM 2225 go .4 miles east on 2225.  Turn north on oiled road for .3 miles.  Cemetery on west side of road.
